Estacada was incorporated in 1905.

The railroad also helped make Estacada a recreation destination. Visitors from the Portland area traveled to Estacada to enjoy the river, parks and surrounding countryside.

As the region continued to develop, logging and the timber industry became another important part of Estacada's economy and identity.

Today, reminders of that history can still be found throughout the community, while the Clackamas River, forests, farmland and nearby Mt. Hood continue to shape the area's character.

Estacada's Long History of Education

Schools have been part of the greater Estacada community for generations.

According to the Estacada School District's history, organized education in the area dates back to the mid-1800s. As communities including Estacada, Eagle Creek, Springwater, Currinsville, George and Dodge developed, small rural school districts served families throughout the region.

Over time, those districts consolidated into what is now Estacada School District 108.

The district serves a geographically large area and includes Clackamas River Elementary School, River Mill Elementary School, Estacada Middle School and Estacada High School, along with additional educational programs.

Estacada Rangers and Community School Spirit

If you spend much time around Estacada, you will probably see plenty of green, white and black.

Estacada High School is home of the Rangers, and Ranger pride has long been visible at athletic events and throughout the community.

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, the Ranger identity is expanding throughout the Estacada School District, with district schools adopting the Rangers mascot. It creates a common identity for students as they progress from elementary school through Estacada High School.
